Question by hotsy t: Any domain name registrars offer payment via Amazon Payments (Simple Pay or Checkout)? ?
I’ve been making money through Mturk, and I want to use that money to purchase some domain names. I’ve been looking for two days to find domain name registrars that accept Amazon Payments. It seems like they all take Paypal and major credit cards only. Does anyone know of any domain registry sites that accept Amazon Payments?

I have also been looking for someone that accepts Amazon Payments. Other than Amazon.com I can’t find anyone. I even checked Target and endless.com since they run their websites and they don’t accept it either. I think it may be because it is so new still.

Domain Registrar.

DNS record… you can also use DNS forwarding. except it doesn’t resolve to the DNS name, it resolves just the IP address.

I use DNS2GO to resolve a lot of these issues.

Question by Mel: What domain name do you choose for him?
You run a “one man” or “one woman” shop. You have developed a great new Web site for your client, the manufacturer of Futuristic Frisbees, and he is very pleased. Now he wants you to select and register a domain name for his new site. He’s heard about accredited registrars, and he wants you to use an accredited registrar. What domain name do you choose for him? Why? How do you register it with an accredited registrar?

Best answer:

Answer by Billy C
Hiya,

I use DN15.com because they are accredited , also a ex-military vet runs it.

Q1 – As for the domain name there are a few options that are open . here are a few:
FUTUREFRISBEE.COM
FRISBEEX.COM
FRISBEE1.COM

Q2- The reason you want to select a name with the word frisbee is to have the search engines pick it up faster a keyword.

Q3 – You can go to www.DN15.com and register and have the domain name in 5 minutes or less.

I hope that helps.

Billy

Question by sp3gibbs: how do I get a domain name that is registrar locked?
this domain expires Feb 2007, I want it but it is my understanding that it cannot be transfered while it is locked

Answer by AmandaKerik
There’s a good reason companies make you pay more for a locked domain – so someone can’t claim to be them and steal it.

Just wait it out, or offer the owner of the domain a purchase / transfer price.

When we think about hosting a website for our individual or business purpose, we have to think about two things; one is the domain name or website address, secondly; the web hosting service. Today’s world, it has become a mandatory requirement to have your own domain name for your website. In order to connect people through internet, a name or a number has to be entered in your computer and this has to be a unique name or number so that computer can find it.

A domain name can be a single name or more parts and technically we can call them labels that are connecting different character strings and delimited by a dot such as amitbhawani.com There can be different names ending with.com,.gov,.co,.edu,.in, etc. and all of them denotes different activities or functions such.com for commercial,.gov for government related sites,.edu for an educational institution or university, etc. There are now over a hundred different tld available using which you can register your desired domain name and then host your website.

The registration of domain name done by a domain name registrar such as GoDaddy.com, Dotster.com, Register.com, Hostbrains.com, Moniker.com, 1&1 internet, etc. at an organization called ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) based in the USA, with a marginal fee. It is a non-profit organization formed in 1998 with participants from across the globe. ICANN doing the coordination activity of the unique identifying names and numbers globally, so that the internet is available and working effectively. Some web hosting companies offering the domain name registration on free of cost when you purchase a yearly based web hosting package under their marketing plans.

After registering the domain name, you can look for a web developer for contents and a web hosting company for hosting your web site. Hosting means making your website accessible through a web browser such as Windows Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, etc. through a data center server from where it is connected to the internet. Web site hosting done by many companies and different models of hosting available such as Shared, Dedicated, collocation, free hosting services, etc. For a beginner, a shared web hosting or a free space can be selected. For more advanced business or companies a dedicated or co-location hosting can be considered because the requirements would be higher for corporates and customized dedicated web server would complete these requirements.

Question by violetkites: Registrar for domain name + web hosting services?
Trying to decide between getting my domain name registered separately from my hosting site versus just doing it all at the web hosting service. It shouldn’t matter if I am sticking to the reputable big companies right?
I was going to get my domain name (the .net and .com versions) registered on namecheap, 1and1 (other suggestions welcome) separately from host (probably hostgator or justhost because I liked that they had a lot of video tutorials).
I do need several email accounts for my employees with webmail access. An easy to use site builder is also good, but I will use Joomla in the future.
Also a good price on whois privacy and renewals (registrar and hosting).
What do you recommend?

Question by Stochastic: How do I associate my IP address with my domain name?
Usually I would just enter the name servers of my host with my domain name registrar. However, this time around my computer is the host. Do I have to make my own DNS server?? Or can I use someone elses DNS server but have my computer as the host? How would I do this?
I have a static IP.

Best answer:

Answer by David
Depends. Do you have a static ip for your computer?

And lots of places that do domain registration have dns servers, and you set it up on there, and point it to your ip address.

But you need to have a static ip address for this. If you have dhcp an ip address that changes, you need to use a service that can deal with that. There are a few of them out there.
